Sunday, December 13th (before 8am) - The Salvation Army will send drivers to pick up the canned goods
To give you an idea as to what you will see:
Ricks Center for the Gifted - 2-d American flag using Campbell soup cans, Progresso soup cans, and tuna fish cans.
Cresthill Middle School - Tornado - We will be building the "Tunado", the reason for the name is that the tornado will be built entirely out of tuna fish cans. The "Tunado" will be cutting a path through cans at it's base and the base cans will represent "Hunger". (total cans = 5,000-6,000)
North Star Elementary - Hamburger - The kids decided they wanted to build a canburger (hamburger) They have been talking about putting a handle on it so it looks like a rubber stamp with the motto "helping stamp out hunger"
Northridge Elementary - Dragon - As King of the Dragons Canalot guards his treasure chest of gold and looks over his vast empire and is saddened by those in the kingdom that cannot afford a nourishing meal for themselves or their families. He has encouraged all those in the kingdom to come forth and help out their fellow neighbors and those less fortunate who reside in his realm. Won’t you help King Canalot and The Salvation Army to help end hunger? All it takes is a few cans, a few gold coins or just a few hours of your time to make a difference.
Skinner Middle School - Scorpion - Thousands of people go hungry each year in the world. They are all too familiar with the pain hunger causes. The scorpion is known for its poisonous venom. Just like hunger, venom can kill slowly. The cans of food used in our canstruction® scorpion will provide nourishing meats and vegetables to the food bank to “Take the Sting Out of Hunger,” Our canstruction® of a scorpion symbolizes a cure for hunger. This canstruction® scorpion is constructed from approximately 1,000 cans of food. The cans were chosen for their shape and color, the green cans represent the scorpion’s body while the red cans represent the poisonous tail.
